I don't want to be dressed up!

In winter, should your dog wearing clothes? When you see dogs in the street wearing beautiful dresses, are you going to dress your dog? Before you do that, I suggest you think twice. Some dogs are really pretty when you dress them but some of them are not suitable for dressing up.

1.  Shaggy dogs

Dogs are not very afraid of cold temperature and most dogs themselves can resist cold. Some dogs have long and thick fur such as many shepherd dogs and long-haired dogs, and they would grow thicker villus to protect them from cold weather.

2.  Strong dogs and fat dogs

People dress their dogs in winter, especially for short-haired dogs. In fact, even your dog is a short-haired breed, it is not 100% necessary to dress it up. Some breeds such as Bulldogs, Pugs and Dachshund are easily to gain weight and their fat is enough to keep warm. Dressing them up would affect their movements. And other strong dogs such as Dalmatians, Labrador Retrievers and Great Danes also don’t need to wearing clothes, in the opposite, overprotecting would reduce their immunity.

Some types of your dogs need to be dressed up, especially some small breed pets

The most representative type is Chihuahua. Chihuahua is a very thin and small breed, and they don’t have thick fur and they are always spoiled by owners. They feel cold since Autumn begins and they get ill easily. Overall, dogs that are thin, tiny, constitution differs should be taken more care and you should prepare some clothes for them in winter.

All in all, many dogs don’t need to be dressed up. If you think your pet is really cute and lovely and you want to take it out and show off, there is no ground for blame. But I have to remind you that it is not helpful to dress them up all the time, otherwise, when one day you forget to dress it up and it become sick, it is no use to regret.
